It has been a busy couple of months since we closed the restaurant doors more than 2 months ago.
Our famous Harissa has won a well deserved SILVER MEDAL at the SYDNEY ROYAL FINE FOOD SHOW this year.
It is a tremendous acheivement to have our Harissa be recognised as a leader in the fine food industry. (Available for sale through us)
Although the restaurant is no longer for now, Hassan has been very busy in working on some exciting upcoming projects.
Just back in Sydney Hassan took some time in Morocco for a research trip looking into some things he has in the pipeline.With some plans for a TV series and some books following the food history of Morocco and international influences.His trip started with being invited to the launch of their recent book at La Maison Arabe in Marrakech, a luxury hotel built into one of the oldest Riad palaces, there he tested out some of their recipes for a media event.
While in Marrakech Hassan also had the rare opportunity to spend some time at Paradis du Saffron with the owner, getting a tour and some insight to this delicate industry.
From there Hassan travelled to the gateway of the Atlas Mountains, Ourika. Visiting eco friendly hotel estate and Kasbah Bab Ourika where he spent time focusing on the agriculture of the land, looking at native produce and traditional farming techniques. He travelled north from there to Villa mandarin in Rabat the cities capital a historical citrus farm meeting, with the owners and again learning more about the traditional farming techniques and some secret recipes.
Heading back to Casablanca and enjoying some time with all the extended family, his rest was short lived after being invited to an evening in his honour at Trocadero Playa in Casablanca a luxury restaurant owned by famous Spanish chef Paco who wanted him to design a special menu for the event. Hassan also held a book signing there for his 2 books in front of a collection of Moroccan and African media.
After a few more similar events and some great meetings with potential media contacts Hassan has headed back to his home in Sydney to keep working on some of these projects.
